I do not conduct child custody evaluations nor do I provide custody recommendations. I also don’t have specialized training in and would not be the best therapist to help clients struggling with eating disorders, substance abuse, or psychosis/schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorder. I can offer referrals to other excellent therapists who are experts in these areas.

I draw from and integrate a variety of theories and modalities for a truly personalized approach with each client. This may include using or incorporating elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS)/parts-work, psychodynamic theory, family systems theory, an existential approach, mindfulness, solution-focused, somatic interventions, holistic mind/body considerations, lifestyle modifications, and more.
Ultimately, the most effective approach of all is the genuine and deep therapeutic relationship I establish with each and every client.

Therapy is a very individual process for everyone. Depending on your issues and goals you may feel better after only a few sessions, or you may choose to stay in therapy for a while. Many people find they can address their goals within 6-9 months of regular therapy. Concerns such as complex trauma or chronic stressors may require longer treatment.
As you come closer to reaching your therapy goals, you may find yourself reducing the frequency of sessions, you might take a break and come back as needed, or you may decide to stop attending altogether. Whatever you choose, my door will always remain open should you feel you would like to check in, or want or need to come back.

I am an out-of-network (OON) provider and do not accept any insurance. Many insurance plans, typically PPO or POS, will provide OON mental health coverage. For clients who wish to use their insurance plan and have OON benefits, I will provide a monthly statement called a superbill which can be submitted to your insurance company to receive reimbursement. The amount reimbursed will vary by plan and I recommend reaching out to your insurance company to inquire whether they cover OON mental health services, and if so, at what rate they reimburse. It is also helpful to know whether you have a deductible that must be met before your insurance company will provide reimbursement, and if so, how much of the deductible has been met thus far. Additionally, if you have a flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA) you may often be able to use this to help pay for your mental health services.

Before your first appointment, you will receive a secure link to create a patient portal and be invited to complete required paperwork. Intake paperwork consists of demographic info, questions about your background and what brings you to therapy, HIPAA form, informed consent, office and payment policies, a release of info (ROI) if you wish for me to contact/collaborate with any of your existing care providers, and a good faith estimate.
Once I receive confirmation that required paperwork has been completed, we’ll schedule your initial intake session. During this initial 90 minute visit we will fully explore your history, what brings you to therapy, your present concerns and challenges, and what you hope to gain from therapy. We will also decide together on a frequency of treatment that works for you and best addresses your unique presenting issues.

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice from your scheduled session time are subject to a cancellation fee equal to the cost of the session. Exceptions are made for emergencies and illness, and there is 'one free pass' given at no charge per year. Thank you for respecting this clinical boundary, as my professional time for your session has been set aside specifically for you.
I do acknowledge that 'life happens' and if less than 24 hours notice is given I will attempt to provide a make-up session the same week, in which case no cancellation fee will be charged.
